MLS Game of the Week | Minnesota United FC vs Austin FC
Minnesota verses Austin pits two teams at the top of the Western Conference rankings against one another. Minnesota are in fourth position in the conference standings, comfortably ahead of Austin. However, there is a 10 point gap between the two sides. With two victories apiece, the two teams have only met four times ever. Everything points to this being a fairly close-knit situation.
This could wind up being pretty similar to other high-scoring games the two sides have lately played in. The position Austin is in on the standings and the outcome of their previous match will give them a psychological advantage going into this one.
Back in April, the two teams squared off in a game, with Austin winning 1-0 in a close contest. The game’s lone goal was scored by Austin Maximiliano Urruti in the 58th minute. They dominated the game with 56% of the possession and 10 shots on goal compared to Minnesota’s 7 and earned all three points. A total of 30 fouls were committed during this intensely heated game, but no one was sent out. Fireworks are also promised for the forthcoming game.
