Hey y’all. Its the Round of 16 in the Champions League. We are in the knockout stages of the competition where its score more goals or go home. Here’s what that means.
Round of 16 Rules
- The Round of 16 is made up of the group winners and runners up from the 8 groups in the Champions League group stages.
- The teams play two games, with each team playing one game at home
- Group winners host their second game in the round of 16
- The team that scores more goals over the two game advances to the next round
- If the score at the end of both games is tied, the away-goals rule is applied (the away-rule is simple, who scored the most goals away from home)

Manchester United v Atletico Madrid
Where: Old Trafford
Time: 3pm Eastern | 2pm Central
How to Watch: Paramount+
Old Trafford isnt the fortress that it was once was and Atletico has recent European history to suggest that away games in England are something that they’re comfortable with. Expect this to be an exciting and sloppy game. Its hard to pick against Ronaldo but its hard to predict whole is consistent enough to give him help in this game.
PREDICTION : ATLETICO MADRID 2 – MANCHESTER UNITED 1; ATLETI ADVANCES TO THE NEXT ROUND
Champions League games on Wednesday, March 16
Juventus v Villareal
Where: Juventus Stadium
Time: 3pm Eastern | 2pm Central
How to Watch: Paramount+
Villareal are a good team but Juventus at home shouldn’t lose this game. With that being said its going to be a lot closer than it should be because it’s Juventus this season. Expect a nail biter but Juventus should ultimately grab a goal and get it done.
PREDICTION : JUVENTUS 1 – VILLAREAL 0; JUVENTUS ADVANCES TO THE NEXT ROUND
Lille v Chelsea
Where: Stade Pierre-Mauroy
Time: 3pm Eastern | 2pm Central
How to Watch: Paramount+
Lille should put up a good fight at home, but Chelsea should have too much talent for them. Fully expect Chelsea to struggle and maybe go down early to give the hosts some hope, but Chelsea has enough firepower and craft to win or draw this tie away from home and go comfortably into the next round.
PREDICTION : LILLE 1 – CHELSEA 1; CHELSEA ADVANCES TO THE NEXT ROUND
