The argument that replica kits are too expensive is not new. Every year, we debate whether clubs should return to releasing new kits every other season. Rather than looking for less expensive alternatives, kit manufacturers are looking to collaborate with designer brands to make their leisurewear even more exclusive (Nike x Louis Vuitton,Adidas x Gucci, New Balance x Aimé Leon Dore, etc).
It’s not a novel idea. Stella McCartney has a long history of designing for Adidas, who collaborated with Arsenal Women to release a high-end collection in March. Rox and Ken discuss the the price of soccer jerseys and what could be done to make kits more affordable.
