EA Sports and the Premier League close to $600m deal

EA Sports appears to be making their first major moves since splitting with FIFA, with a massive deal for Premier League (EPL) rights worth around $600 million reportedly on the table. Following a meeting with all 20 EPL clubs, one club executive stated that it would deliver more than $95 million annually, with EA remaining the league’s lead partner and retaining its exclusive electronic game license.

It demonstrates the EPL’s financial power and dominance over the other European leagues. You can see why Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Juventus are so interested in the Super League. In response to the reports, an EA spokesman stated that they do not comment on the specifics of commercial relationships or discussions with their partners.

They said that they are proud of their long-standing relationship with the EPL and its clubs, and that they appreciate the EPL’s support for their plans for EA SPORTS FC. EA will definitely be working on deals with a number of other partners, including Nike, in addition to the EPL.

Rox and Ken discuss the deal and what this means for the EA Sports franchise as a whole.
