The process of compiling the MLSPA Most Marketable Athletes list is much more than just plucking names out of thin air. The scoring model and definition of marketability are based not only on an athlete’s number of followers and/or likes, but also on the demographic makeup and consumer affinities of their audience.
To determine the final most marketable athletes ranking, Zoomph examined all MLS athletes who were active in 2021 on at least three of the four major social platforms – Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram – between January 1, 2021 and November 10, 2021. The audience analytics and follower counts were taken on November 10, 2021.
